Cath has a Management background within the voluntary and private sector. She helps many organisations consider the valuable human aspect of their business, enabling them to stay on course whatever storm they were forced to weather! This involves Consultation to establish current policies and procedures and suggest cost effective, efficient ways to make the best use of resources. She provides comprehensive support working collaboratively with senior management and helps organisations to create a solid framework that they can lean on in times of crisis, providing them with control, stability and security. Cath has also helped a number of organisations achieve industry standard accreditations. She has been involved with local NHS Primary Care Groups to help provide early preventative measures in response to mental health issues.

Cath provides high quality effective training to empower organisations by utilising their internal valuable assets (i.e. their own staff), thus reducing the need for some of the external interventions, and enabling them to provide the right support to the right person at the right time.

As well as having an MSc in Psychological Trauma, she is a Consultant, international author and presenter. With Liz she is the co-creator of KRTS Power to Plan™ a comprehensive organisational psychological risk assessment tool, KRTS Power to Respond™ an innovative App which supports the immediate needs of employees and their managers post critical incident, and KRTS Power to Recover®, an early intervention programme that supports individuals following a critical incident.

Cath is a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) Division of Counselling Psychology Qualification Reference Group. She is also a member of the BPS Crisis, Disaster and Trauma Section which enables her to keep informed of the latest developments in the field.

Dr Liz Royle has 25 years’ clinical experience of working across the full range of psychological trauma and crises – be that immediately responding to ongoing traumatic incidents and their aftermath or working therapeutically with PTSD, dissociative disorders, complex and historical trauma.

She has published and presented internationally on the subjects of psychological trauma and EMDR. Her past clinical career included training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) in 1999 and becoming an EMDR Europe Approved Consultant in 2007. She was a founder member of the UK Psychological Trauma Society.

She was the lead person for the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies ESTSS Managing Trauma in the Uniformed Services task force for 8 years.

Dr Royle has substantial experience of the strategic management of trauma and proactive interventions for high risk organisations. Her professional experience of trauma was cemented during her time as Senior Welfare Officer for Greater Manchester Police providing psychotherapy and 24/7 critical incident interventions to police officers. In that role, she was the specialist liaison for Gold Control, firearms, Child Protection, Witness Protection Officers and the Major Armed Control Unit. She developed post-incident procedures for major incidents in the police service and managed responses to major incidents such as line of duty deaths and multiple fatalities.

Since leaving the police service in 2004, she took her skills and knowledge into the private, corporate and voluntary sectors. Dr Liz Royle has written Trauma Support policies for City Councils, Police Forces and security companies and provided strategic and crisis response support to organizations affected by the 7/7 bombings, the 2004 Tsunami and groups affected by disaster, deaths and accidents.

 

She co-created the early intervention programme Power to Recover® and now works as a consultant to organisations that need to manage their response to traumatic events.
